In the House
  • Check all Houseplants for insects. Whitefly, scale and spidermite thrive in our winter conditions. Treat Scaleplants accordingly.
  • Fertilize all plants lightly. Rearrange houseplants so they all get their fair share of light.
 
For the Garden
  • Water Deeply, and do not fertilize plants that have finished blooming.
  • Dig and pot up Parsley and Chives to bring indoors and grow for winter.
  • Plant Garlic in the first half of the month
  • Harvest your eggplant, peppersmuskmelon, watermelons, pumpkins.
  • Continue harvesting Tomatoes, Peppers and Squash
  • Starting canning and freezing your salsas or better yet, bring some in for our salsa contest!!!
  • Prepare for the first frost. Move tender potted plants indoors. Pay attention to our varying weather patterns.

For the Landscape
  • Start transplanting shrubs as the leaves begin to drop and the plants go dormant.
  • Continue watering Autumn Forestnew plantings throughout the fall.
  • Watch for pests and diseases. Making sure that any diseased foliages or branches have been pruned away and disposed of properly.
  • Thin out overgrown shrubs and perennials to avoid diseases such as powdery mildew.
