Landscape Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been landscaping?
Edgewater Landscaping is a division of Edgewater Home and Garden. The new division was a natural transition for the greenhouse after 22 years of selling the material to do landscaping. Our landscape manager has been with the division since it’s inception and has ensembled a top notch staff that take tremendous pride in the work they do. The landscape staff is constantly attending classes, learning and teaching to improve their craft. We approach our every season, much like our first, always looking to challenge ourselves and create a unique and interesting landscape that both fits our clients wants and needs.

So you have a designer…how does that benefit me?
Yes, we employ a trained landscape designer. A designer is an important tool when planning your outdoor space. You may think, I just want a patio, what good does a designer do me? I know what I want and where I want it; I just need to know what it costs. Well this is true, but… a designer sees things that you may not. The flow of traffic from your home to this outdoor space, where is the kitchen in relation to the space, what is the optimum square footage to accommodate the average number of people you will entertain. Is there a shape that better accents the house or takes advantage of the space. What are your paver options, colors, can I quilt pavers? And that is just dealing with a paver patio, consider the scope of your whole yard. A designer has the skill and trained eye to make spaces flow together in a way that is congruent with all of the other aspects of your outdoor space.

I want to do the work myself, but I don’t know what to do, can you help?
We certainly can! Our design staff has a great option to assist you do-it yourselfers. We will come out to your home and do a sketch right there, complete with plant options! This works well for smaller problem areas where you might just needs some ideas and a push in the right direction. Our experts also have classes and Expos at the greenhouse on various topics to assist you in your projects.
