Hardscape Project Gallery 1

Before:
This space was originally a green turf space tucked into an existing garden. The homeowners were looking to make is a destination space. We installed a two-tiered oval patio with an airy seatwall along side a pond and stream.

After:
The upper patio steps down to the bottom patio, and a retaining wall along the bottom patio helps mask the elevation change in the space. The airy seatwalls that surround the patio provide seating as well as giving the patio a stronger presence in the space. A paver walk way leads through an arbor into the space and up to the bottom patio.

This picture shows the walkway that connects the patio to the fire pit area and how the bottom patio is surrounded by the retaining wall.

This picture shows some more of the detail of the patio. The Seatwalls follow the curves of the oval patio. You can see how the solider course separates the patterned brick creating a visual break as well as serving a functional purpose.

Here the walkway is finished and meets with the bottom patio. You can see how the steps follow the oval up the upper patio, and how the breaks in the seatwall give access to other destinations within the space.
